HOCl

HOCl, also known as hypochlorous acid, is a natural acid produced by the human immune system (white blood cells) that effectively combats bacteria, viruses, and fungi. HOCl has the ability to destroy the cell walls of microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses. Reactive oxygen species attack the proteins in the cell structures, altering them in a way that renders the pathogens harmless. More complex cell structures, such as human tissue, remain unaffected because they possess natural defense mechanisms that make them resistant to hypochlorous acid.

HOCl is now used in numerous everyday applications. It is particularly common for cleaning surfaces and food, as well as for fogging rooms. Thanks to its natural and gentle properties, its use involves significantly lower risks than many conventional disinfectants.
